Growing
Onions

I love to grow both brown and red onions.
Sow the seeds from February to July 15cm apart and cover with 1cm of soil.
The soil must be kept moist but not boggy as this will rot your onions.
Crops can be harvested when the tops are yellow and falling over.
Plants that continue to grow can be encouraged by ripen by bending over the
tops.
The onions can be lifted by hand and laid on their sides to try, and just keep
turning them over on the soil so the ripening is even.

Storing
Properly dried and well form bulbs should be stored in a dry, airy place and out
of direct sunlight.  I like to plait the stems together and hang my onions in the
garage or wood shed.
