Radishes
Growing
Radishes are one of the easiest crops to sow from seed and results are quick, I think
they're a great crop
Champion Radish
for children to plant, I like to grow the Red Champion Radish and the
White Icicle Radish.
Radishes can be grown all year round and they prefer light, well fertilised soil
Plant in well drained and moist soil
Sow the seeds in rows 30cm apart and then out the seedlings so that plant
bulbs are not restricted.  Sow a dozen or so seeds every 3 weeks.
They will germinate in 3-7 days
Harvesting
White Icicle Radish

Radishes can be harvested 4-5 weeks after sowing from seeds
Harvest when they are crisp and young not old rubbery and peppery
You will see the bulb appearing above the soil

Storing
Radishes to be eaten raw will last 4 to 5 days trimmed of their greens and wrapped in plastic or a damp towel in the coldest
part of your refrigerator.
Don’t clean radishes until you’re ready to eat them. And if your radishes have gone a little soft (or you want to make them
extra-crisp), just soak them in ice water for an hour or so. The cold water will firm them up. You can even store them in ice
cold water in the refrigerator, but only for a day or two before they absorb too much water.
If want to make them last longer fill a storage container with sand, bury the radishes and keep the container in a cool place
for up to a month.
