From a very young age, I have always been a creative person. My passion for art began early, and I pursued it enthusiastically during my school years until the fifth form. However, my parents insisted that I focus on obtaining my school certificate (which certainly shows my age!) and encouraged me to study more conventional subjects that would secure a stable job. Despite putting aside my painting ambitions, I never lost my creative spark.
Life took an unexpected turn just over two years ago when my husband suffered a heart attack, necessitating a quadruple bypass surgery and leading to various complications. This tumultuous period spun my world on its axis, and in the midst of the chaos, I sought solace and sanity in painting once again. It was through this return to art that I felt I rediscovered myself and my true passion.
My renewed love for painting and all aspects of art has been nothing short of transformative. I immersed myself in the art community, becoming a member of the Tauranga Art Society and founding the Pyes Pa Art Lovers Exhibition. Additionally, I have become an advocate for the intersection of art and mental health, believing in the profound therapeutic benefits that creativity and art can offer.
My journey has been one of perseverance, rediscovery, and unwavering dedication to the world of art. I invite you to view my works by visiting www.cathi.co.nz.
